Amazing that children learned to read in one room school houses with only one product - books- and a teacher who knew how phonics work. This was reinforced at home with reading aloud, studying the Bible, looking at the occasional magazine and newspaper, and other family things. We must go back to the ways of learning of the past. A teacher and an intact family - a miracle.
