Excellent letter from Joseph Cannisi ("Does Democracy Matter," May 31). Let me add something a fellow retired transit worker said: "People are spoiled. They have no idea what a dictatorship is like. You protest in some countries and you wind up under a tank."
As for Nat Weiner's May 24 "Called Out" letter defending Donald Trump, here are some facts that he omitted:
The climb in unemployment due to the pandemic was a result of Trump doing little to fight Covid.
Also, Weiner states that unemployment under Biden is higher than official statistics. This is true under all presidents, including Trump. So unemployment is still lower under Biden.
