It's easy to mock Governor Cuomo for expecting law-enforcement officers to make sure on Thanksgiving that state residents obey his executive order limiting home gatherings to 10 persons.
Several upstate Sheriffs have ruled out that happening, with one stating he wouldn't count cars in driveways or check under piles of leaves. And Mr. Cuomo several months ago acknowledged that the key to driving down coronavirus cases had been the willingness of New Yorkers to buy into his shutdown rules, not the rules themselves.
