A subculture lives below New York City resembling a sanctuary society of sorts that many people call home, yet the inhabitants meagerly exist day after day.  

New Yorkers regularly witness the danger, discomfort and distress of the mentally ill and persistently emotionally disabled who live in trains, platforms and tunnels within the labyrinth of NYC’s subways.
