Blues at the top

To the editor:

Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell did the right thing to insist on disciplining NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey for abusing his position in forcing police officers to drop charges against retired police officer Kruythoff Forrester for allegedly chasing three teenagers while menacing them with his gun.

Maddrey reportedly ordered officers to let Forrester, a friend of Maddrey, go free, and Mayor Eric Adams backed up Maddrey.

Sewell disagreed with Adams and charged Maddrey with menacing with a firearm. Maddrey must think the mayor will bail him out since he rejected a slap-on-the-wrist penalty and demanded a police department trial.

This is when we find out if Sewell is really the police commissioner, or if she is just a front for Maddrey, Adams and Phillip Banks.

Bravo Keechant Sewell!
