To the Editor: With the Biden-Harris victory in the presidential election, we hear calls for bringing people from all different political views together. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and the majority of Americans believe this is the best way for the Democratic Party to be successful in getting necessary changes, and preventing a political civil war that makes progress impossible.
However, there is one issue on which Biden and Harris and the Democratic Party cannot allow any compromise. That issue is "white supremacy." Whether it is written into racist laws, openly stated or subtly implied, all forms of white supremacy must be condemned in crystal-clear words. There is no room for debate on the issue itself; white supremacy is evil and utterly inconsistent with our Constitution, as clearly stated in the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, as well as U.S. Supreme Court case law, including Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), Brown v. Board of Education (1954) and Loving v. Virginia (1967).
