City retirees receiving $200K pensions spikes

Pensioners getting 6-figure payments nearly triples in five years

Nearly four times as many retired New York City public employees collected at least $200,000 in pension benefits last year than did in 2019, according to data compiled by the Empire Center.

The nonpartisan think tank analyzed data from the New York City Employees’ Retirement System and found that total pension payments received by retirees grew to $6.05 billion last year, up 5 percent from $5.78 billion from 2023.
