More than 3,000 jobs in the city Parks Department could be lost following the end of the federally funded City Cleanup Corps initiative and the nearly $63 million in proposed cuts to the city budget, according to parks advocates.
Last April, then-Mayor de Blasio announced the launch of the Corps, which created thousands of jobs at 10 city agencies with the aim of beautifying parks and green spaces. The positions were set to end December, but were extended through June.
