I recently recovered from a (thankfully) mild Covid case. A friend advised me that as an older person (66), I should continue to wear a mask. I didn't and caught Covid in spite of being fully vaccinated and boostered.
Those who say that now many cases are like a bad cold are right, to a point. I've had many colds that felt worse. I also have hay fever.
But with Covid, my nose was running worse than ever. For me, that's saying a lot. Tylenol made me feel much better before I got my Paxlovid prescription. But Covid is also more contagious. In my life, I've often been around people when I had a bad cold without giving it to anyone.
While Republicans are the worst on this issue, Democrats are not that good either. As early as May 13, 2021, President Joe Biden declared that if you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask. Was this statement motivated by medical information or politics?
