Although thousands of students at the City University of New York earn degrees in technology, CUNY graduates are underrepresented in tech jobs, a recent report from the Center for an Urban Future found.
The number of CUNY students graduating with degrees in technology more than doubled from 2010 to 2019, from 1,597 to 3,907. But though the tech sector is one of the fastest growing industries in New York City — employment levels in the city’s tech industry have grown by more than 17 percent since 2019 — CUNY students are struggling to launch tech careers.
