When the state Democratic Committee that serves at the pleasure of the Governor sent a flyer to 7,000 Orthodox Jewish households trying to link Cynthia Nixon to anti-Semitism, it posed an obvious question: Was Andrew Cuomo really that stupid?
He is a big believer in polls, and it seems likely that he dipped into his overstuffed campaign fund to do at least one recent private survey that figured to be roughly in line with the findings of Siena College that were released Sept. 10 showing Mr. Cuomo with a 41-point lead over Ms. Nixon. This would have been far later in the contest than the survey that showed Joe Crowley more than 30 points ahead of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez before she rang his bell by ringing those of his constituents three months ago, and drawn from a larger group of people, increasing its reliability.
