The Detective Investigators Association has agreed to delay a significant chunk of retroactive wages until next October in return for a no-layoff guarantee through June 30 that could be extended another year if the city gets at least $5 billion in state and/or Federal aid, Labor Commissioner Renee Campion disclosed Dec. 23.
The agreement is consistent with others made by city unions led by the United Federation of Teachers and District Council 37 that will collectively save $772 million of the $1 billion target for labor savings set by Mayor de Blasio. There was one small difference, Ms. Campion said, that was needed for the 273-member union to hit its savings target of $1,013,015.
