Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said last week that he would not go the distance with Mayor de Blasio should he be elected to a second term.
“I will not be commissioner for 6½ years,” Mr. Bratton said at a news-media breakfast July 23. “That’s the reality. I’d be 70-some-odd, 75 years old by that time.” He turns 68 in October.
