To the Editor: While I applaud the state for approving the option for city workers to retire early, it is bittersweet to learn that the Mayor announced as an example in a phone interview that because of the coronavirus, he wouldn't include Health + Hospitals among the participating agencies.
If there is anyone that is deserving of the choice of early retirement, it is the heroes of the city hospital system. There should not even be a discussion from the Mayor or any official that health-care workers shouldn't participate--they should rightfully be at the head of the line!
