According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “projection” is defined as “the attribution of one’s own ideas, feelings, or attitudes to other people or to objects.”
On Jan. 23, Donald Trump decisively won the New Hampshire republican primary beating Nikki Haley by 11 points. Subsequently, Haley gave what Trump said sounded like a victory speech although she did not claim that she won and she even congratulated Trump on his victory.
Notwithstanding, the garrulous Trump stated “She’s doing a speech like she won. She didn’t win, she lost.” Is Trump attributing to Haley what he did on Nov. 4, 2020, when, before the ballot count was complete, he declared on live television that “We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election”?
Is this a subconscious confession by Trump that he lost the 2020 presidential election? For more than three years Trump has been giving querulous speeches ranting and raving that he won in 2020 when in fact he lost by a “landslide.”
I say lost by a landslide because in 2016 Trump beat Hillary Clinton by virtually the same number of electoral college votes that Joe Biden beat Trump by in 2020. And in 2016 Trump claimed he beat Clinton by a “landslide.”
Trump constantly projects his crimes, corruption and mendacity on to other people and saying Haley gave a speech like she won when she lost is just another example of Trump attributing his own behavior to others.
In addition, I daresay that Trump’s sobriquets for his rivals and perceived enemies like “crooked Hillary,” “little’ Marco,” “lyin’ Ted,” “deranged” Jack Smith, “slimeball” James Comey, “crazy” Maxine Waters, “shifty Schiff,” “meatball Ron” and “birdbrain Nikki” is also projection by Trump of subconscious thoughts he knows are true about himself.

Many claim Trump is a political genius. He isn't. Everything Trump learned regarding business, politics and life in general came to him by around age 12. He learned that the biggest bully gets his way. Many other children, like himself, are cheats and liars. And, the best defense when someone exposes you for who you are is to play two simple kids word games (1) I know you are, but what am I and (2) I'm rubber and you're glue, everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you.
That and nothing more than that, sums up Donald Trump.

Yes, Trump is a malicious narcissist, and most of that ilk use projection to excrete their evil onto their adversaries. Projection is the tool; Trump is the hypocritical fool.
