False prophets

To the editor:

Like Martin Luther in 1517, Christ-centered Christian leaders must post a modern day “Ninety-five Theses” on the White House door.

Christianity has been hijacked by Donald Trump’s self-centered heresy that’s endorsed by false prophets and prosperity gospel preachers seeking earthly riches.

On Feb. 6, Trump, America’s de facto Christian figurehead, announced the creation of a White House faith office led by none other than the televangelist preacher, the Rev. Paula White, who also speaks in tongues.

The Bible explains that when speaking in tongues someone should interpret “so that the church may be edified.” Otherwise, I submit it’s just unintelligible babel to manipulate Christians.

White preaches that unless you give to the ministry you will not receive additional blessings from God. But God’s grace and salvation are free. The Bible states, “It is the gift of God.”

Instead, White told her viewers, “you need to send in that hundred thousand dollar check … if you leave the burden on this ministry God is going to hold you responsible, you will never see sustainment in your life, your dreams will die … because God sets it up that way.”

Further, Trump has tasked Attorney General Pam Bondi with implementing an “anti-Christian bias” task force.

Both the faith office and task force are nothing more than Trump cozening Christians by blandishing, fear-mongering and feigning religiosity. He’s a false idol who led many Christians into the spiritual wilderness and whose behavior contradicts virtually all the teachings of Jesus.

According to the New Testament gospels, two thousand years ago in Jerusalem, Barabbas was accused of insurrection. Yet, when given a choice the crowd chose to free Barabbas over Jesus.

America’s misguided crowd has again chosen Barabbas over Jesus.
