A former NYPD police officer was sentenced to a 22-month prison term for her role during the violent Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol breach carried out by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
Sara Carpenter, 54, of Richmond Hill, was found guilty in March of civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, both felonies, and five misdemeanors following a jury trial in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. The former cop will also be subject to 24 months of supervised release, according to the sentence handed down Tuesday by U.S. District Chief Judge James E. Boasberg.
