Despite allegations made by his challengers in the election of District Council 37’s Local 372 that President Shaun Francois misused union funds, the incumbent and his entire slate easily won the June 7 contest.
Mr. Francois received 1,472 votes in the mail-ballot election heading the New Direction slate, while challenger Paul Brathwaite, who ran as part of Team Quiet Storm, got 776 votes. Two other challengers for the position who did not run as part of a slate, Absoulaye Balde and Alfonso Giordano, earned 23 votes and 73 votes, respectively.
