Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives are probing a United Auto Workers local in New York City over a resolution that union members passed in December calling for a cease-fire in war in the Gaza Strip as part of what the lawmakers’ are calling "investigations into antisemitism.”

The resolution, “Calling for a Ceasefire in Gaza, an End to the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, and Support for Workers’ Political Speech,” was passed by the members of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, Local 2325 of the UAW, in a 1,067-570 vote. It calls for an end to “Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land, sea, and air by Israeli military forces,” and refers several times to Israel’s incursion into Gaza as a genocide.
