Victory might have come by a thinner margin than expected earlier in the campaign, but Kathy Hochul’s election as the state’s first female governor nonetheless gave her a significant mandate.
A coalition of elected officials and women’s organizations that gathered outside City Hall last week reminded her as much, essentially anointing her a standard-bearer for a multitude of economic and other issues they insisted must rise to the top of Hochul’s agenda.
