Who would have figured that midway through Michael Bloomberg’s third term, Bill de Blasio was the one public official in New York who still considered him the very model of a conscientious Mayor?

At least that’s the story Hizzoner was telling Aug. 31 during his weekly appearance on “The Brian Lehrer Show” when asked by the host about the number of small children living in Housing Authority apartments who had elevated levels of lead in their blood having risen from the 19 he cited earlier this year to 1,160.
