Posted 4/21/22
Most workers at some of the most established and profitable fast-food and retail companies earn less than $15 an hour, with many making less than $10 an hour, according to findings by the Shift Project.

Interviews were conducted over an eight-month period starting in March, and data was compiled from more than 20,000 workers at 66 corporations.

The wage tracker, a joint initiative of the Harvard Kennedy School and University of California, San Francisco, project found that 89 percent of workers at McDonald’s earned less than $15 an hour and that 23 percent were paid less than $10 an hour. At Wendy’s, 87 percent of workers earned less than $15 an hour and 17 percent were paid less than $10 an hour. And at Dollar General, which has more than 17,000 stores nationwide, 92 percent of workers made less than $15 an hour and 22 percent got less than $10 an hour.
