Hundreds of postdoctoral researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have gone on strike after their year-long fight for their first contract reached an impasse.
Members of the Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee-UAW, along with elected officials and advocates, picketed in front of the Icahn School of Medicine on the Upper East Side on the second day of their walkout Thursday to demand that Mount Sinai return to the bargaining table. The union and Mount Sinai last spoke for a half an hour on Tuesday, according to Andrea Joseph, a member of the bargaining committee.
