A former NYPD Deputy Chief caught up in a corruption scandal involving two major donors to Mayor de Blasio was sentenced June 13 to two years of probation and 180 hours of community service on his guilty plea to misapplying police resources.
Michael Harrington, 52, of Staten Island avoided prison time for providing rides in a police boat and police cars and a flyover by a police helicopter for Jeremy Reichberg and Jona Rechnitz, who later became donors to Mayor de Blasio’s 2013 campaign, and their friends, said prosecutors in the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District.
