No limit to vanity

Posted

To the editor:

One thing that those suffering through Donald Trump’s two-hour State of the Union performance may have missed is a comment he mumbled after a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor was announced.  Trump mumbled the following:  “I’ve always wanted the Congressional Medal of Honor, but I was informed I’m not allowed to give it myself.  If they ever open up that law, I’ll be right there with you someday.”

He told this to the 100-year-old Medal of Honor recipient, Captain E. Royce Williams.

How outrageous is this statement from a bone spurs draft dodger, bully and coward to say!  Does he really believe he could be worthy of this award for extreme sacrifice and heroism?

I think in his delusional mind he does, just like he believes he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and should be added to our great presidents on Mt. Rushmore.  Is there no limit to Trump’s vanity?

Your letter presents another misinterpretation of Mr. Trump’s intended words.

It was evident that Mr. Trump was injecting humor into the ceremony. If it were that you could understand humor, you would have understood Mr. Trump’s quip.

President Trump’s repartee honored Captain E. Royce Williams. He stated that the Congressional Medal of Honor was an award he, as president, could not receive. Consequently, President Trump elevated Captain Royce to a level surpassing the presidency itself.

    "Kudos to President Trump!"

My prediction is that Mr. Trump will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize before the end of his monumental presidency, and he will be set in stone on Mount Rushmore—naturally, with his white teeth gleaming and his ever-present, imposing grin.

    A humble man is he, Mr. Donald J. Trump;

for it is his style to rise to the occasion,

with a smile flashing in brevity and pomp.

Trump will get a Nobel when the committee adds a new category for Mendacity.

Come to think of it, Trump might not even get that as he will face stiff competition for the prize from Robert Sica.

    The Ham-Fisted Man

    That's your problem, Joseph Cannisi,

a little man who cries tears of duplicity.

He writes ham-fisted letters in complicity,

of total deceit and lacking legitimacy.

When he is exposed for his inconsistency,

he cries like a bawling-baby, “mendacity!"

Is Word Man really Robert Sica and "0000" and Donne? I don't know but it's a possibility - and a strong one. Dollars to doughnuts he's Robert Sica, or someone with his brain attached at birth.

When one has the brain of a flea, one often speaks in duplicity.

A man of vacuous thoughts is he, Joseph Cannisi, retorts and morphs.

Keep writing your thoughts of illegitimacy.

It proves you are a man of complicity.

    Enjoy the word-game, little man,

with pen in trembling, deceitful hand!

It's really rich when a man who's greatest achievement in life was to serve as a low-level functionary in a completely unnecessary agency tosses around insults like "little man" and "vacuous".

However, Robert Sica, an bookie for NYC OTB, believes he has standing to do so. As Trump would say - SAD!

    @Michael Gorman,

I have to admit that it's hilarious to watch someone so willing to make "war" in this country and around the world be so obsessed with the Nobel Peace Prize which is dedicated to those committed to uplifting the human condition and knowledge regardless of the negative influences in their lives. Hilarious and disheartening at the same time.

Interesting, Robert Sica claims I started the derogatory posts. The below is but one of Sica's nasty posts dated April 25, 2025 (I could cite many, many others) regarding a letter I wrote at the time.

"I suppose you’re completely unaware of the facts; you persist in spreading half-truths and expect to be recognized for your one-sided opinions. Instead of writing a balanced letter, which you clearly cannot, you simply spew one-sided political propaganda and personal attacks on Trump. Unfortunately, your efforts are futile. Your articles are favored by Democrats; try writing a letter on a center-leaning political website; the intellectual stimulation will overpower your biases."

I'll let everyone in on a little secret. Last year the former editor of the Chief told Sica he had to stop posting insulting and disrespectful comments. Unable to tame his poisonous pen and behave like a civilized human being, Sica chose self-exile from the Chief on September 11, 2025, in a farewell poem.

I can only guess that upon hearing a change in editors, Sica decided to re-load his instrument with venom and start anew with his condescending, snarky retorts, twisting of others' words and behavior as a juvenile schoolyard bully.

Sica may fancy himself as "an accredited writer and poet", but he is just a run-of-the-mill internet troll getting off on pushing people's buttons. As for me, I consider the source - I wear Sica's insults like badges of honor.

    “A Parting Shot"

Joseph Cannisi, you failed to mention the letter title “Misfiring, September 09, 2025.”

The post you mentioned is my poem, the second-to-last post.

The post I mention is the last one—from the previous editor.

As usual, Joseph Cannisi posted incorrect information. The event Cannisi mentioned had taken place on September 9, 2025, not September 11, 2025, as stated in his inaccurate and fictional post.

Let me clarify the situation. Last year, the former editor of the Chief informed Mr. Sica and Cannisi that they had to cease posting insulting and disrespectful comments. On September 9, 2025, Mr. Sica chose to take a positive approach and resigned from the Chief in a heartfelt farewell poem. The previous editor praised Mr. Sica’s poem and wished him well in his future endeavors.

To illustrate my point, please refer to the last two posts in the September 09, 2025 letter titled “Misfiring.”

Cannisi’s last post with the opening line, “ I’ll let everyone in on a little secret,” is one big lie!

The fact of the matter is that the former editor of The Chief, Richard Khavkine, informed Mr. Sica and Cannisi to keep the posts civil—end of story.

Cannisi posted that the exchange between Mr. Sica and Mr. Khavkine was Sept. 11, 2025.

Cannisi is wrong again! The date of the exchange between Mr. Sica and Mr. Khavkine was Sept. 09, 2025.

Cannisi did not include the letter title, Misfiring,
