New York State Nurses Association members at two Northwell Health hospitals on Long Island are gearing up to strike, and delivered 10-day strike notices Friday to hospital administrators at both facilities.
About 700 nurses at Peconic Bay Medical Center and Long Island Jewish Valley Stream are now set to go walk out Feb. 21 unless they can settle contracts that include fair raises and boost staffing. Although the union held bargaining sessions with hospital administrators at Long Island Jewish Medical Center on Tuesday and with Peconic Bay on Monday, there hasn’t been much progress, NYSNA officials said.
