Hundreds of nurses at two Northwell Health facilities on Long Island have overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike following the expiration of their contracts at the end of the year and what they say are inadequate offers from the private health care organization.
About 700 nurses at Peconic Bay Medical Center, in Riverhead in Suffolk County, and Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, in southwestern Nassau County, are poised to walk off the job if their pay issues and staffing concerns are not addressed.
