The NYPD has fired James Kobel, the former commander of its bureau charged with investigating harassment claims, after he was found guilty of having used a pseudonym to post hundreds of virulently racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic comments on an online message board populated mostly by current and retired NYPD officers.
Although Mr. Kobel had filed for retirement in January, the department nevertheless conducted a disciplinary hearing and he was convicted of six charges, according to The New York Times.
