Late last year, the challenger for the presidency of Social Services Employees Local 371 of District Council 37 blamed his defeat on the unfair advantages he said were enjoyed by the incumbent, Anthony Wells.
He lamented that Mr. Wells benefitted from being singled out for praise by DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido for his help in reaching a deal under which the union deferred payment by the city of some fringe-benefit funds in return for granting a no-layoff guarantee.
