The head of the Professional Staff Congress, which represents faculty at the City University of New York, praised the appointment of Queens College President Félix Matos Rodríguez as the public university system’s Chancellor but cautioned that he would not succeed unless he obtained the funding needed to resolve CUNY’s “labor crisis.”
The union has been prodding CUNY leadership to push for the state to fully fund the cash-strapped system, including doubling pay for adjuncts to $7,000 per course.
