The city saw historic declines in major crimes through September, with shootings and shooting victims dropping to record-lows, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
Dips in major crimes from July through September marked seven straight quarters of declines going back to January 2024, Tisch added. The decreases extended to the subway system, where straphangers experienced the safest third quarter since recordkeeping began, according to the department.
