The city Health and Hospitals Corporation will take over health care on Rikers Island, Mayor de Blasio announced June 10 as the Department of Investigation released a damning report on the private company that has been the main provider of such services to inmates.
A number of employees of Corizon Health Inc. “have failed to properly provide the medical and mental-health services for which the city contracted,” according to the DOI report.
