More than 1,000 school bus employees who work for the Reliant bus company voted April 8 to authorize a strike after months of negotiations on a new contract have failed to yield progress.
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181, the largest union representing city school bus workers, has been seeking salaries and medical benefits for employees working along Reliant Transportation bus routes that were on par with what was offered at other school bus companies retained by the city.
