New York State is planning an exam for Correction Officer Trainees for eventual appointment to supervisory posts at correctional facilities throughout the state. Applications must be submitted or postmarked by Aug. 31.
The hiring rate is $43,937, climbing to $46,214 after six months, and subsequently rising to $52,919. Appointees who work in New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland or Westchester counties will receive an additional $3,507 annual downstate adjustment. Those who work in Dutchess, Orange, or Putnam counties will receive an additional $1,306 annual mid-Hudson adjustment. The application fee is $35.
