Workers in the fast-food, rideshare industries will be joined by nursing-home and airport employees in a one-day strike July 20 in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement, the Associated Press reported.
Organizers of the “Strike for Black Lives” want corporations and elected officials to recognize and act against systemic racism within diverse sectors of an economy that they said limits opportunities for many Black and Hispanic workers. They are also pressing for sick pay, affordable health-care coverage, and additional safety measures.
