The best words

To the editor:

Watching Donald Trump and listening to him speak is reminiscent of the 1960s “Batman” TV and comic book series when you saw words and phrases like “BAM! BOOM! POW! ZOK!” and “KAPOW!” flash on the TV screen or jump out at you from the comic book pages almost as if you yourself were getting punched during the fights between the Dynamic Duo and Gotham’s villains.  

This is known as onomatopoeia, “the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it, as Merriam-Webster defines the term.  

Trump claims he’s “a stable genius,” has “a big brain” and knows and uses “the best words,” yet he explains how a future American “Iron Dome” missile defense system would operate by saying, “ding ding, ding ding, ding ding, boom, OK missile launch, pssshng, poom,” without a doubt making the system’s operational protocols crystal clear.  

While discussing how special interests control politicians, Trump presented a lucid explanation by stating, “bing bing, bong bong bong, bing bing.” Then asking, “You know what that is, right?”

The self-proclaimed real estate magnate complains about windmills reducing property values by 75 percent and utters “reerrr, reerrr, reerrr,” which is his slant on the sound a windmill makes and further alleges the noise causes cancer.  

As he imitates puppets he seems to sing along by vocalizing a resonating chorus of “bing bing bong bong bing bing bing.”

Painfully gesticulating, he struggles to enunciate the “aahs,” “oohs” and “eehs” as he mimics a female weightlifter.   

And most recently, Trump unequivocally clarified his republican primary success by attributing it to, of course, “boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.” 

Trump is a contradiction to say the least. He’s a laughingstock to half of America and the likely GOP candidate for president.  

Eee-Yow. Uggh.
