The GOP Reps really knock him out

To the editor:

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine headed off to the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima, Japan, heartened by a major shift from President Joe Biden, who told U.S. allies that he would allow Ukrainian pilots to be trained on American-made F-16 fighter jets. Biden said he was also prepared to let other countries give F-16s to Ukraine.

It’s inspiring to see Biden side with our Western allies who want to help Ukraine soundly defeat Vladimir Putin, who is conducting an extremely unpopular war, even in Russia. The news of Biden’s support for the F-16s was welcomed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of Britain, who said the U.K. will work together with the United States and the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark to get Ukraine the combat air capability it needs to defeat Putin.

We don’t just need to stop Putin from annexing Ukraine and reform the U.S.S.R. We have to show Putin that his psychopathic aggression will result in him losing personal power and in Russia being diminished as a world power.

There is an additional benefit to giving Ukraine the air power to stop Russia and put the fear of God in Putin; that is, to teach Donald Trump and the Putin-loving members of the GOP that their treasonous statements and behavior will not be tolerated.

A message to all the Trump and Putin-loving Republicans in Congress from the Beatles who sang, ironically:

“I’m back in the U.S.S.R./You don’t know how lucky you are, boy/Back in the U.S.S.R.”

The American people will not accept a world controlled by autocrats and dictators, something that seems to be tolerable, if not desirable, by some Republican leaders in Congress.
