The Medicare ‘fix’

Posted

To the editor:

The fix is already in place to allow privately held Aetna’s Medicare Advantage program to replace the current Senior Care Medicare that city employees and retirees have had for many years.

This was accomplished on an expedited basis without due diligence to get the best plan. Instead it is just a city giveaway to allow the program a $600 million slush fund, deceptive advertising and intimidation of workers who opt out.

If it ain’t broken and city employees and retirees are satisfied with their current choice of Medicare Senior Care that they have had for many years, why switch for the private plan requiring a slush fund to operate and then claiming that the current senior care program is running a $600 million deficit?

This needs to be further investigated.
