Mayor de Blasio has insisted that he played no role in the firing nearly four years ago of Ricardo Morales, a top Department of Citywide Administrative Services official with a glowing record in city government who has sued claiming he was terminated because he offered damaging testimony to investigators about two scandals that embarrassed the Mayor.
But emails between Mr. de Blasio and his trusted political adviser Emma Wolfe were recently unveiled in a brief filed by Mr. Morales's lawyer, Robert Kraus, that contradict the Mayor's claim that the call was made strictly by DCAS and involved "performance issues."
