A New York City Transit pilot program meant to entice station agents out of their token booths and onto the subway platforms as a customer-service initiative is failing to attract volunteers, according to two Transport Workers Union Local 100 officials.
Back in November, the union and the transit agency announced the rollout of the Ambassador program, which offered 355 Station Agents an additional dollar an hour to operate out on the platform and at the turnstiles, actively engaging riders who need assistance and directions.
