Several dozen workers and union leaders rallied outside of Baco Enterprises’ warehouse in the Bronx last week to protest the firing of Alex Patterson, an employee who had been attempting to unionize the workplace.
Workers were in the early stages of organizing to join Local 259 of the United Auto Workers when management “caught wind of it” and fired Patterson, according to the local’s president, Brian Schneck. “Bosses don’t hesitate in doing that,” he said.
