More than 75 activists and workers joined a gaggle of elected and union officials on the steps of City Hall May 26 to call on the Mayor to boost library funding.
District Council 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido thanked Mayor de Blasio and the City Council for adding $43 million to the city budget for the city’s three library systems last year, though the union and library heads had initially asked for $22 million more. There are 40 million visits each year to the five boroughs’ libraries.
