Several unions have called for the Department of Education to cancel student-loan debts for public-service workers, Politico reported. Loans cancellations, among the prominent themes of the presidential campaigns, remain at the forefront of policy debates, particularly for progressives.
In a letter to the DOE, 15 unions, representing firefighters, health-care workers and government employees, want the cancelled for borrowers who have more than 10 years in public-service jobs.
