The owner of a 308-unit rental building in Midtown Manhattan reached a $650,000 settlement with New York City Comptroller Brad Lander over violations of prevailing wage laws, Lander’s office announced this week. The building owner, 160 Madison Ave LLC, underpaid 15 workers from March 2019 to February 2021, the second time that the building owners had been caught skirting the law, the comptroller’s office said.
Lander reached a $285,224 settlement with the LLC in 2020 for failing to pay prevailing wages between December 2016 and March 2019. But soon after that settlement, workers continued to allege they were being underpaid.
