Twelve members of the FDNY who died in the last year were honored at the department’s annual memorial service at the Fireman’s Memorial in Riverside Park Thursday.
Included in the remembrances were two who died on duty — EMS Captain Alison Russo, who was stabbed to death in near her station headquarters in Queens in September 2022, and firefighter William P. Moon II, who was gravely injured while preparing for a drill in his Brooklyn firehouse in December.
