32BJ, realty board remain far apart

Contract expires Dec. 31, workers OK strike

Just like four years ago, negotiations between 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union and the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations are going down to the wire. 

But while the two sides reached an agreement at the 11th hour in 2019, the changed commercial landscape following the pandemic makes it increasingly likely that 20,000 office cleaners, porters and handypersons will be walking off the job when the clock strikes midnight Dec. 31.
