60% of U.S. jobs exposed to AI

IMF report details tech’s promise and peril

The majority of jobs in the U.S.will soon be exposed to both the benefits and the perils of the emerging technology, according to a recent report by researchers at the International Monetary Fund. 

Because of the prevalence of what the IMF refers to as “cognitive-task-oriented jobs” in the U.S. and in other countries with advanced economies, about 60 percent of jobs in those nations are exposed to AI. As many as half of those jobs could be “negatively affected,” the report notes. The other half would see increased productivity.
