To the editor:
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was a successful comedian who became a respected and successful politician. President Donald Trump is a failed and reprehensible politician who often pretends to be a comedian but is an authoritarian tyrant.
The scary thing is that Trump, in his outrageous Truth Social posts, is not joking but is serious, and our nation under his leadership is in imminent danger in many ways.
Consider Trump’s recent post regarding his personal headline on June 24 for the 16-day event for celebrating American’s 250th birthday. The event was supposed to be a musical concert series, but when most of the performers bailed out of the event Trump changed the direction of the celebration.
He said that "since the scheduled performers are getting the 'yips'" he is thinking about bringing the "Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does do without a guitar, the man who loves his Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate 'Artists,' and give a major speech.”
Trump’s post may sound like he’s joking, but he believes his narcissistic nonsense and knows that his MAGA base will defend him without reservation. Even when he tries to be funny, Trump himself is the joke, and he’s never funny; he’s just ridiculous and evil.
It is sad that our great nation’s 250th anniversary celebration will disintegrate into a birthday party for the worst president in American history, a president who is trying to destroy our democracy.

Also, anybody who would rather listen to Trump's voice than Elvis Presley's needs to have his or her ears examined.

Mr. Gorman, it appears that Mr. Trump is quite familiar with U.S. Marine terminology, particularly the phrase “Good to Go.” What truly distinguishes Mr. Trump from his predecessors is his understanding of that phrase, which signifies that everything is in a state of readiness, and he is confident that he will be able to overcome any challenges that may arise in the future. Mr. Trump is a true Renaissance man. Why? When all hope seems lost, Mr. Trump taps into his state of intelligence. Throughout Mr. Trump’s illustrious presidency, President Trump has demonstrated his resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Notably, he confronted an assassination attempt by a would-be assassin with unwavering courage. In a defiant display of heroism, Mr. Trump raised his right fist high in the air and shouted: “Fight, fight, fight!” Mr. Trump’s unwavering fortitude, in the face of impending doom, demonstrated his stoutheartedness as he widely opened his eyes and "looked Death straight in the eye."
