Postdoctoral workers at Columbia University, who have been bargaining for a contract with the Ivy League research university for nearly six months, have set a Nov. 1 strike date, their union announced last week.
Their union, the Columbia Postdoctoral Workers-United Auto Workers Local 4100, said that the approximately 1,700 postdoctoral workers and associate research scientists at Columbia will walk out at the start of next month unless the university comes to the bargaining table in good faith.
