To the editor:
Renee Good and Alex Pretti would be alive today if the Minnesota Governor and the Minneapolis Mayor would have done their duty. They simply needed to deploy local police to separate “protesters” from the federal agents who were trying to carry out their sworn duty.
It appears that the Governor and Mayor both want the chaos to continue so as to keep the focus off the missing billions of dollars.

I don't agree. It's ICE that is overreacting to these situations. BTW, the people have a right to protest and to be outraged at what ICE is doing in Minnesota.

If there was such a concern over fraud in Minnesota, why wasn’t an army of forensic accountants sent in? The pretext is obvious. And an ICE agent standing in front of Good’s vehicle with a camera in one hand didn’t further his “sworn duty”.
It exposed poor training, which culminated in homicide.

This letter is excellent and offers a very insightful analysis of the ongoing chaos in Minneapolis, which has been fueled by the actions of the Minneapolis Governor and Mayor. It’s a touching piece.

I'm certain that Mr. Tell would be the first person to say that Trump's "stop the steal" speech had nothing to do with tens of thousands of seditionists, many who were armed, storming the Capitol on 1/6/21.
Look at the restraint the Metro and Capitol Police exercised on J6 verses the reckless indifference displayed by ICE in Minneapolis. Give me a break.

Check the facts, violent protest is the preferred method of protest by left-leaning protestors.
2020 George Floyd/Black Lives Matter Protests
Left-leaning protestors have been involved in riots, arson, and looting in cities like Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle.
Antifa and Counter-Protests (2016–Present
Antifa was involved in the 2017 Trump Inauguration "J20" protests, where masked protesters engaged in property destruction, and ongoing clashes in Portland, Oregon.
CHOP/CHAZ (2020)
Protesters in Seattle established the "Capitol Hill Occupied Protest" zone. The six-block area saw multiple shootings and instances of violence before being cleared by police.
Stop Cop City (2023)
Protests against a police training facility in Atlanta by leftist protestors led to domestic terrorism charges for several individuals following arsons and clashes with law enforcement.
In January 2026, a group of anti-ICE protesters disrupted a Sunday worship service at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. The incident has sparked a major federal civil rights investigation and national debate regarding the limits of protest in religious spaces
Target of the Protest: Protesters targeted the church because one of its pastors, David Easterwood, reportedly also serves as the acting director for the local ICE field office. Activists accused him of overseeing operations involving aggressive tactics and illegal arrests.
Presence of Don Lemon
Former CNN host Don Lemon was present and live-streamed the incident, leading to his later being charged with conspiracy to deprive rights and interfering with religious freedom.
National Impact
Religious leaders and high-ranking officials worldwide have condemned the event.
It’s evident that those who preach love and tolerance don’t actually practice what they preach.

Despite the negative comments, your letter stands as a shining example of what journalism should be—sticking to the facts and refraining from expressing personal opinions. Well done, Mr. Tell!

I noticed a pattern. Eight letters were submitted to the Chief this week. They garnered 16 comments online and 10 of the 16 came from one person. Past weeks follow the same pattern, with the same person.
As they say, an empty barrel makes the most noise.

And the callous comments blaming the victims of ICE's brutality by MAGA supporters like yourself exposes the true nature and character of those who continue to back Trump.

I have no doubt that many more Sica-ning posts will be coming. After all you are simply mimicking your hero Trump, who was advised by Steve Bannon to "flood the zone with ****".

One More Post For The Road
When law enforcement officers request your compliance, do so promptly. Avoid pointing your vehicle at them and accelerating. Law enforcement officers have the right to protect themselves from any hostility, including that of violent protesters. Denying this right is absurd.
Governor Walz and Mayor Frey of Minneapolis are a national disgrace!
